Every day, thousands of older adults across Canada face challenges that often go unnoticed. Some live alone with little social interaction. Others struggle to find trustworthy local services, learn new technology, or simply stay informed about what is happening in their community. Many families live hundreds or even thousands of kilometers away from their loved ones, hoping someone nearby can offer a helping hand or even just a friendly conversation.
At TapSenior, we believe that every senior deserves to feel connected, respected, informed, and supported. We also believe that building stronger communities is not something one organization can do alone. It requires compassionate people who are willing to share their time, knowledge, kindness, and local experience.

That is why we created the TapSenior Volunteer Network.
The TapSenior Volunteer Network is a nationwide community of volunteers who work together to improve the lives of seniors by connecting them with people, information, services, and opportunities that help them continue living active, independent, and meaningful lives.
Whether you have one hour each week or several hours each month, your contribution can make a real difference.
Volunteering with TapSenior is about much more than giving your time. It is about becoming part of a movement that is transforming how communities support older adults across Canada.
Unlike traditional volunteer programs that focus on only one activity, TapSenior offers multiple volunteer opportunities designed to match different skills, interests, and schedules. Whether you enjoy talking with people, organizing events, helping with technology, speaking multiple languages, or simply connecting seniors with local resources, there is a place for you within our growing community.
As a Family+ Ambassador, you will help seniors discover one of the most valuable benefits offered by TapSenior. Many older adults are unaware of the discounts, trusted partner services, and community resources available to them. By introducing the TapSenior Family+ Card, helping seniors register, activate their membership, and understand how to use it, you become an important bridge between local communities and the support seniors deserve. Something as simple as helping someone complete a registration can open the door to healthcare services, transportation options, home care providers, beauty and wellness services, educational opportunities, and community benefits that improve everyday life.
As a Community Ambassador, you become the local voice of your city. Every community has valuable information that seniors should know about, but often that information is scattered across different websites, social media pages, or local newsletters. Community Ambassadors help collect and share local news, community announcements, free programs, workshops, health clinics, seasonal events, safety alerts, recreation opportunities, and municipal updates. Once approved, these updates can be shared directly with seniors in the relevant city through TapSenior, helping thousands of older adults stay informed about opportunities happening close to home. Your local knowledge helps create stronger, more connected neighborhoods where seniors feel involved instead of isolated.
One of the most meaningful volunteer opportunities is becoming a Friendly Call Volunteer. Loneliness affects millions of seniors, and sometimes the greatest gift anyone can offer is simply taking the time to listen. Friendly Call Volunteers schedule regular phone conversations with seniors who would appreciate companionship and conversation. These calls are not about providing medical advice or counseling. They are about creating genuine human connection. Whether discussing family memories, hobbies, gardening, sports, travel, grandchildren, or everyday life, these conversations remind seniors that someone genuinely cares. A simple phone call can brighten an entire week and provide emotional support that cannot be measured by numbers alone.
As a Wellness Check Volunteer, you help ensure seniors continue receiving the support they need. During scheduled calls or visits, volunteers check in with seniors to learn how they are feeling, whether they have been able to access the services they need, and whether they require additional assistance. Sometimes a volunteer may discover that someone needs transportation to a medical appointment, help finding a trusted home care provider, assistance booking a mobile haircut, or simply guidance locating community resources. Volunteers do not need to solve every problem themselves. Instead, they help connect seniors with the appropriate TapSenior services and trusted local partners who can provide professional assistance.
Technology continues to evolve rapidly, and many seniors simply need patient guidance rather than complicated instructions. As a Technology Helper, you can help older adults feel more confident using smartphones, tablets, email, video calls, online appointments, digital forms, and the TapSenior platform itself. Teaching someone how to join a video call with family members or safely recognize online scams can have a tremendous impact on their independence and confidence. Technology is no longer just about devices. It is about helping seniors stay connected to the people and services that matter most.
Canada is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world, and many seniors are more comfortable communicating in their native language. As a Multilingual Support Volunteer, your language skills become a valuable community resource. You may assist seniors by translating important information, helping them understand available services, supporting them during registrations, or simply making them feel comfortable communicating in a language they know best. Volunteers who speak languages such as French, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, Korean, Tagalog, Ukrainian, or many others help ensure that language is never a barrier to receiving support and staying connected.
Communities become stronger when people gather together, and Event & Activities Volunteers help make that happen. These volunteers assist with organizing community events, workshops, educational seminars, wellness activities, volunteer fairs, seasonal celebrations, and local gatherings that encourage seniors to build friendships and remain socially active. From helping with registration and welcoming attendees to taking photos and sharing event highlights afterward, every contribution helps create positive experiences that bring people together.
Many seniors are unaware of the wide range of programs available in their own communities. As a Resource & Service Navigator, you help seniors discover trusted local resources that can improve their quality of life. This may include introducing them to healthcare providers, transportation services, home maintenance programs, meal delivery services, community organizations, caregiver support, financial assistance programs, educational opportunities, wellness programs, or trusted businesses within the TapSenior Network. Rather than searching through dozens of websites, seniors benefit from having knowledgeable volunteers who can point them in the right direction and help them access reliable services more easily.
Every volunteer contributes differently, yet every role shares the same purpose: helping seniors remain connected, informed, supported, and valued within their communities.
The TapSenior Volunteer Network also provides volunteers with meaningful opportunities for personal growth. Volunteering allows you to build leadership skills, strengthen communication abilities, expand your professional network, develop community relationships, and gain practical experience working with one of Canada’s growing technology platforms dedicated to seniors. Students seeking volunteer hours, newcomers looking to become involved in their communities, retirees wishing to give back, professionals searching for meaningful volunteer opportunities, and compassionate individuals of every background are welcome to join.
Our volunteers become ambassadors for kindness, inclusion, and community engagement. They represent the belief that small actions often create life-changing results. A single conversation can reduce loneliness. A single introduction can connect someone to an essential service. A single event can create new friendships. A single volunteer can inspire an entire neighborhood to care more deeply for its older residents.
TapSenior provides guidance, resources, and ongoing support to help volunteers succeed. You do not need previous experience working with seniors to make a meaningful contribution. We welcome people with compassion, patience, respect, and a willingness to learn. Our team provides orientation and training so volunteers understand their roles and feel confident serving their communities. Throughout your volunteer journey, you become part of a supportive national network working toward the same mission of improving the lives of seniors across Canada.
As our platform continues to grow, volunteers will also help shape the future of TapSenior. Community feedback, local knowledge, and real-life experiences help us improve our services, develop new features, strengthen local partnerships, and better understand the changing needs of seniors in different regions. Volunteers are not simply participants in the program. They are partners in building Canada’s most connected senior community.
Imagine a future where every senior can easily discover local events, receive community updates, speak with a friendly volunteer, access trusted services, learn new technology, communicate in their preferred language, participate in meaningful activities, and find the support they need without feeling alone. That future becomes possible when caring people choose to volunteer.
Across every province, city, town, and neighborhood, there are seniors who would benefit from a simple act of kindness. Whether you choose to make friendly phone calls, organize local events, share community news, teach digital skills, guide seniors to trusted resources, support multilingual communication, promote Family+ benefits, or perform wellness check-ins, your contribution becomes part of something much larger than yourself.
The TapSenior Volunteer Network is more than a volunteer program. It is a growing movement built on compassion, connection, and community. Together, we can reduce loneliness, improve access to trusted resources, strengthen local communities, and help seniors continue living with dignity, confidence, and independence.
If you believe that every senior deserves to feel connected, informed, respected, and supported, we invite you to become part of the TapSenior Volunteer Network today. Join us, share your time and talents, inspire positive change in your community, and help build a future where no senior has to navigate life alone. Together, we can create stronger communities, one meaningful connection at a time.
